Santa Cruz are one of the most bleak and fucked up bands I have heard in a long time. They play a mixture of Sludge, Stoner, Drone, Doom mixed in with Southern Rock.
This is Sludge/Stoner/Doom Metal of the fucking highest order. Light up your best bong and immerse yourself into the world of Santa Cruz as your in for a wild night.
Santa Cruz features Guy Tavares from brilliant Stoner Rockers Orange Sunshine. This is his other brilliant project he is involved in.
Santa Cruz have just released their brilliant 2011 debut album - Down On My Knees - A 13 song and 70 minute classic epic of bleak tales about drugs. This is music for adults to rock the fuck out to.
It's dark, haunting, dirge-ridden, loud, heavy and depressing at times. But what a fucking album. It's full of amazing songs that last long into the memory. Especially brilliant tracks - Dorian, Dr No, Black Needle and the fucking superb 15 minute epic - What Is Love?
So if you want an album that has an amazing style of riffs but done in a highly original way then Santa Cruz is the band for you.
